Why it matters

For Pueblo families, a student who cannot follow a traditional schedule still has a public path to a diploma, and the school behind that option is headquartered in their own city, with online lessons backed by in-person help at centers across Colorado.

Renovated administration center opens in Pueblo

GOAL High School celebrated the grand opening of its renovated administration center at 27 Montebello Road in Pueblo on Oct. 27, joined by Mayor Heather Graham and County Commissioner Miles Lucero.

The celebration opened with a performance by students who participate in Perfect World Music Group, accompanied by a ceremonial flyover. Guests then toured the renovated facility before gathering for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and remarks from community leaders, including Graham and Lucero.

Lucero's county role was also set out in the Pueblo County commissioners' administrative structure resolution for 2025-26, adopted at a Jan. 14 meeting. The resolution named Commissioner Spirengen as chair and Lucero as chair pro tem, and County Attorney Cynthia Mitchell said it lays out the structure of county government for the next two years. It also set commissioner assignments to community boards and commissions, formalized the meeting schedule and passed on a voice vote.

City and county proclaim Oct. 27 for GOAL

Graham and Lucero presented a joint city and county proclamation declaring Oct. 27, 2026, as GOAL High School Day in the City and County of Pueblo, recognizing the school's history and headquarters.

'GOAL High School brings a different perspective for non-traditional students who need more flexibility in order to get their high school diplomas,' Graham said. The proclamation recognized GOAL High School's history as a statewide public charter school, a public school operating under a charter, founded in 2008 and headquartered in Pueblo.

GOAL thanked the Latino Chamber of Commerce, Graham and Lucero for their time and support, saying their help made the grand opening celebration a memorable event for students, staff and the community.

Online courses pair with in-person help statewide

GOAL High School is a statewide, multi-district charter school authorized by District 49 that provides an online curriculum with in-person support at 40 student drop-in centers across Colorado.

The school was recognized for its commitment to flexible, personalized education across Colorado, a model aimed at students who need a different path to a diploma. GOAL is also a Microsoft Showcase School, according to the school description provided with the announcement.

For Pueblo, the renovated center gives that statewide operation a renewed local base at 27 Montebello Road, while the proclamation ties the school's name to its hometown on Oct. 27, 2026.
